Magia dei bulbi / Magic of the bulbs

Eccoli spuntare dal terreno ancora umido per la piaggia di qualche giorno fa – un po’ d’acqua dal cielo ci voleva qui a Vicenza.
Puntualmente, all’avvicinarsi della primavera, i bulbi non hanno tradito le mie aspettative e nemmeno la loro natura. E così mi incanto per qualche minuto ad osservarli, lì tutti uniti e – mi pare – sempre più numerosi. Una piccola magia, così mi piace immaginarla, anche se è cosa del tutto naturale. E cosa c’è di più bello di un fiore? Altri fiori, semplice.

All’inizio i bulbi dei tulipani avevano un loro posto esclusivo. Poi, dimenticando che stavano dormendo lì sotto, con la vanga ne ho fatto affiorare alcuni. Che sbadato. Ma tanto meglio, ho deciso di spostare qualche bulbo per dare più colore al mio orto-giardino.

And what is more beautiful than a flower? Other flowers, simple.

The bulbs of tulips had a unique place. Then, forgetting that they were sleeping down there with the spade brought them to light. That careless. Better that way. I decided to move some bulbs to give more color to my vegetable garden.

Volete un giardino pieno di colori, con fiori dalle forme particolari, magari profumati?
Una risposta è: bulbi.
Coltivarli è semplice. Potete cominciare con i rustici: crochi, ciclamini, narcisi, giacinti, tulipani. Quello che mi piace dei bulbi è che dormono per un buon periodo dell’anno, e poi… si svegliano. E con i loro colori, forme, profumo, svegliano anche me. Uno spettacolo per gli occhi. E non solo.

E poi si moltiplicano velocemente, soprattutto narcisi, crochi e bucaneve. Nel mio orto giardino ho dei bulbi di tulipano che dormono e si svegliano ormai da quindici anni. E sono cresciuti di numero, senza che io facessi niente di concreto. Spettacolo della Natura!

One answer is: bulbs.
It is easy to cultivate. You can start with the rustic: crocus, cyclamen, daffodils, hyacinths, tulips. What I like about bulbs is that they sleep for a good time of year, and then … wake up. And with their color, shape, fragrance, wake me. A feast for the eyes. And not only.
And then they multiply quickly, especially daffodils, crocuses and snowdrops. In my garden I have some tulip bulbs (bought in Holland) that sleep and wake up now… for fifteen years. It grew in number, without me to do anything concrete. Spectacle of nature!
